Dello tsunami che l’ha colpita quattro anni fa, nella
città non resta alcuna traccia se non la prua d’una barca
distrutta che padre Philip Pornchai, stimmatino, parroco
della chiesa di St Agnes, ha raccolto e sistemato di fronte
alla sala della comunità a perenne memoria dell’evento. Per la verità, le vittime furono relativamente poche
sulla terraferma. Molte invece a Ko Phi Phi, isola nella
baia.

Saint Agnes Catholic Church,
Krabi, has been a place of refuge and prayer for me over these past 10 days. I
had come to this beautiful place to discover caves, accessible only by swimming
(a promise guaranteed by my cousin) and although loved my time on Tonsai Beach,
had decided to leave Krabi and head for Phuket. This may seem strange but I was
determined to find a Catholic.

AGNES
